WC student artist Katia Perez just completed a semester at the Oxbow School, a high school for the arts in Napa, California. Thanks to her own talents and help from WC art program director Gabrielle Uballez – who also spent a semester at Oxbow – Katia received a full tuition scholarship to the prestigious school. WC alumna Adriana Ortiz just completed her first semester with a 3.4 g.p.a at the University of New Mexico which she attends on a Working Classroom Scholarship. WC student artist Carlos Gabaldon won the STEMArts competition for ISEA2012, WC student actor Daniel Cabrera received a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Council Scholarship Award for his community advocacy and essay on immigrant rights. The National Endowment of the Arts honored the quality of WC’s street conservatory program with a $35,000 grant for 2013.
