THEATER WORKSHOPS

 

Dancing Earth Intensive

DANCING EARTH inspires creativity and cultural consciousness through community art practice, energetic dance training workshops, site specific rituals and full length eco-productions. 

Sep. 5th – Sep. 15th

Monday — Friday | 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

+ Mandatory Saturday session on Saturday Sep. 9th, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm +

Prerequisites: Solving For X cast only / by invitation.

 

 

Let’s Play!

A unique opportunity to study improvisation and theater making all in one class. Join us as our guest teaching artist, Dani Belvin introduces new games, exercises, and fun. The class will culminate in a performance on November 1st.

Sep. 18th – Nov. 3rd

Monday & Wednesday | 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Performance Date: Nov. 1st, 2017

Prerequisites: 6th Grade and Up!

 

 

NEW MEDIA WORKSHOPS

 

Apprenticeship: WHAM! KAPOW! RESIST! 

Activism and Education in revolutionary comics + graphic media

A new media project that explores issues about educational equity in communities of color with comics, visual storytelling and graphic arts. As a collaborative team, participants will research, develop concepts and produce a multimedia comic zine with text and images using digital and traditional media. (This is a paid opportunity. There is no tuition fee for this project)

Oct. 23rd — Nov. 10th (3 weeks)

Monday — Thursday | 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

+ Saturday, Oct. 28th & Saturday, Nov. 4th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. +

Teaching Artist: Zeke Peña

Prerequisites: Application Required. 7th Grade and up, preference given to students with previous art experience!

 

 

 

VISUAL ART WORKSHOPS

 

Apprenticeship: “I Have Also Known This Feeling”

Exploring Future Legacies through Print, Form, and Activation

Type of Project: printmaking/sculpture/installation/performance
Project Description: Using simple materials such as wood, plants, swaths of paint, simple clamp lights, cardboard, chicken wire, Papier-mâché, plaster, found textiles, found objects, Xerox, lithography, and screen printing, student artists will create an immersive installation comprised of modular sculptures, forms, and textures that embody
personal narratives and symbiotic landscapes. (This is a paid opportunity. There is no tuition fee for this project)

Oct. 9th – Nov. 17th (6 weeks)

Monday & Wednesday | 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Teaching Artist: Grace Rosario Perkins

Prerequisites: The workshop is open to students who have previously completed WC workshop OR high school students with previous art experience recommended by a teacher.
